So, March turned out to be a month unlike anything we (or anyone else) had ever known. It started off well enough, with a lovely walk along Southend Pier.
We walked all the way to the end.
And all the way back for hot, fat chips by the seafront.
Lily created a new art project, painting straight onto old vinyl records.
Then she chilled out with her housemates.
We wandered up to the high street for a meatball sub.
Lily took an arty black and white selfie.
She completely tidied up her room and filled boxes full of old toys and books for the charity shops.
As a special treat, we tried a limited edition Grand Big Mac.
Lily watched Spirited Away and was inspired to draw all the characters.
Everybody cosy?
Home style chips and dips with homework.
Dee Dee helps out with maths.
Then suddenly, everything changed. We all had to stay home. Which meant Lily had to do all her schoolwork from home.
Our solution to not going out was to go out - to our shed.
We had a fab Saturday night with drinks, snacks and music.
Lily has been very good about keeping up with her lessons in actual lesson time.
We all spent a bit of time in the garden. Especially these two, who were discovering it for the first time.
Supervised of course.
Ziggy loves the garden so much that when we bring him in, he sits at the window and howls.
He... he makes us do bunny hops.
With schoolwork covered, we just needed to accommodate after school clubs. Lily has the best teacher in the world for textile club.
For cover club, the teacher's not quite so expert.
But Lily's a good learner.
In fact, she played so hard she broke a nail. Can't ask for more commitment than that.
As a reward at the end of our first week in, we popped some fresh popcorn and bought a movie (Knives Out).
Then back down to the shed (dressing up this time).
At the weekend, we had pretty much every weather condition in the space of a few hours - hail storms, a snow flurry and bright, bright sunshine.
It's a funny feeling, having to stay home. But we've got a lovely home. And love all being together.
