Ho Ho Home.

December started with a trip to a certain well known fast food chain to try their 'Tiger Pig' giant pig in a blanket baguette.

Chilly days call for hot chocolate.

Sadly this year, we couldn't go to Milan. But after a week of virtual teaching, we had an Italian night with the Morrises and this lovely spread.

All our Christmas plans were thrown for a loop when a new lockdown was announced. So we jumped in the car and headed to see Nanny Rachel while travel was still permitted.

We had a lovely extra mini Christmas in Sheringham.

Baubles for earrings.

Bake Off may have ended but Lily and Mummy made this showstopping Malteser and white chocolate Christmas pudding cake.

As a special treat, we bought a cheapie snow machine and turned the shed into a Win-ter Won-der-land for the day.

Inside, it was decked out as a magical grotto.

There were cocktails, mocktails, music and turkey roast baps with a bowl of roastie chunks.

Check out the snow on the trampoline.

We stayed in the shed until quite late...

...then continued the party indoors with a game of Sprout Head.

Another of Mummy's fab creations, this was a very special handmade stationery advent calendar.

As part of a '12 Good Deeds Of Christmas' school initiative, Lily cooked us a lovely meal.

Not allowed to travel beyond the county borders, we still managed some nice walks.

And then... it was Christmas for real.

This year meant it was just the three of us at home for the big day. We certainly made the best of it. Naturally, there were presents...

...including this stylish Denim and Burberry creation.

We took an hour's exercise before lunch.

Then had a pretty fine traditional turkey roast with all the trimmings (including bacon wrapped sprouts and a gravy boat that wasn't any old ship).

We even had the snow machine going outside the window for a White Christmas.

We finished our lovely day with sparklers in the garden and more snow.

Frozen too.

On boxing day, we screened the new Pixar movie on the chimney.

And the day after, the post office caught up on deliveries. It was like Christmas morning all over again.

Even though we've all got time off, Lily's art studies continued. She did an incredible study of Frida Kahlo. And after recreating some of her paintings, Lily recreated her look in some photos.

Again, New Year's Eve was just the three of us at home. I say 'just' - but I can't imagine anything better. We had wonderful decorations, a steak and chips buffet, an open fire, games, drinks and we stayed up until nearly 2am. It's been a funny old year. Awful outside. But making us appreciate our home life together even more than we already did. Happy New Year, let's hope it's safer and more positive for everyone.
